Interested in coming to the shop for a tour?

Here’s what you need to know:

-The shop is located near Lougheed, Alberta, about a 2-hour drive from Edmonton, and about a 4-hour drive from Calgary.

-$40 flat gets you or a group an (approximately) hour-long tour. You can make an appointment for a shop tour using the contact form below.

-Harty Locomotive Works is a shop that operates as a normal small business doing commercial work daily; it is not a museum or hobby shop, so tours need to be pre-arranged with no unannounced visits.

-If you’re possibly interested in purchasing anything from HLW when you come, please let us know beforehand, as we don’t usually have items in stock, and they need to be ordered.

-HLW has many heavy, dirty, dangerous machines, and sometimes there may be hot forges or fresh forgings. This means that anyone coming must be of “sound mind and body,” and that children must be supervised and well-behaved, but be assured that children are most welcome.

-I will be able to turn on the machining tools and the Alldays power hammer if you want to see them running.

-You are welcome to take and post pictures of the shop.

-If you want to see any forging in action, especially with the power hammers, an additional cost will be required. Please contact me and we can potentially work something out!
